8. Maternity, Paternity Leaves

8.1. Maternity Policy

8.1.1. Notification and Proof

  • Inform the Company of your pregnancy at least 1.5 months before the expected delivery date.
  • Provide proof of delivery, either a certified copy of the birth certificate or a medical practitioner's certificate.

8.1.2. Ante-natal Appointments

  • Entitled to paid time off for pre-arranged ante-natal appointments, classes, and scans.
  • Appointments should be scheduled to minimize disruption to the workday, and advance notice to the manager is required.

8.1.3. Health and Safety

  • The Company conducts a risk assessment for pregnant or postpartum employees.
  • If risks are identified, the Company will provide information and take reasonable steps to mitigate, potentially offering alternative work.

8.1.4. Maternity Leave

  • Eligible for up to 8 weeks of maternity leave, with a maximum of 3 weeks before delivery.
  • By law, refrain from working during the first six weeks after childbirth.
  • During maternity leave, entitled to employment terms and conditions, except obligations inconsistent with this policy.

8.1.5. Maternity Benefits Ordinance

  • To claim maternity benefit, you must be employed with the Company for at least 1 year before delivery.

8.1.6. Contact During Maternity Leave

  • The Company will discuss maintaining contact during maternity leave.
  • The Company reserves the right to maintain reasonable contact to discuss return plans or provide updates on work developments.

8.1.7. Return to Work

  • Normally entitled to return to the same job after maternity leave.
  • If taking over six months leave, entitled to return to a suitable job in certain circumstances.
  • Requests for non-standard working arrangements (e.g., flexible or part-time work) must be in writing, considered case by case.

8.1.8. Notice for Return

  • If returning before the initially notified end date, provide at least 2 weeks' written notice.

8.1.9. Career Development and Promotion

  • Maternity leave will not affect career progression; promotions are based on individual merit and performance.

8.2 Paternity Policy

8.2.1. Notification and Proof

  • Provide proof of delivery, either a certified copy of the birth certificate or a medical practitioner's certificate.

8.2.2. Paternity Leave

  • Eligible for up to 1 week of paternity leave
  • The Company will discuss maintaining contact during paternity leave.
  • The Company reserves the right to maintain reasonable contact to discuss work related emergencies or to gain work domain knowledge.

8.2.3. Career Development and Promotion

  • Paternity leave will not affect career progression; promotions are based on individual merit and performance.
